FALL 2017 PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES:
Halloween at R-Roxbury
Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 26, 2017 and start planning your costume! Trick-or-Treating takes place around the track at Roxbury High School. Residents bring their 'house' and candy to the track. Set-up begins 6pm; Trick-or-Treating 6:30-7:30pm. Please register online through your Community Pass account. Lots more info on flyer! ce-Off with Team Matt - Sports and Games Fundraiser
Join Mr. Capra and Staff for a night of fun and games in support of Matt Adonis and be a part of “Face-Off with Team Matt”. Games include some of Matt’s favorites from Camp Capra: Capture the Flag, Guard the Pin, The Blob, and much more! For kids in grades 3-5. Event is held on Thursday, November 9, 2017, 5:00pm-7:00pm in the Eisenhower Middle School Gym. Donation/Fee: $30 per participant. More info on registration flyer.
Rutgers SAFETY Clinic
On Thursday, November 16, 2017, the Roxbury Recreation Department will be hosting the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic - (Sports Awareness for Educating Today's Youth) at the Recreation Community Center, 72 Eyland Avenue, from 6pm to 9pm. It will be held in the Senior Center, 72 Eyland Ave, Succasunna. Children's Bowling League
Join in the fun learning to bowl while the days get shorter and chillier at Circle Bowl in Ledgewood! This program is perfect for your child to see old friends and make new friends while having fun and learning a new skill plus the thrill of competition. Two programs offered: Bumper Bowling, for K-3rd grade, three on a team; and Regular Bowling, 4th-8th grade, four on a team. Wednesday sessions, 4pm-5:15pm, with a total of 21 dates. Sessions run through March 21st. One parent from each team must be present each week. Sign up now, and form your own team! Registration Fee: $10, register in-person at Roxbury Recreation; includes t-shirt. Game Fee: $6 per week, includes shoe rental and two games of bowling.
K-1st Grade Boys & Girls Basketball Skills Clinic
This is a great opportunity to introduce your child to the fundamentals of basketball. The clinic is instructed by Bob Capra, a Lincoln-Roosevelt teacher. Three sessions to choose from! Registration begins on September 1st, through your Community Pass account or in-person at the Rec Office. Fee: $40; includes t-shirt.
- Session 1 –Tuesdays at HSL Gym, 5pm-6pm, Nov. 7, 14; Dec. 5, 12, & 19
- Session 2 – Wednesdays at HSL Gym, 4:30pm-5:30pm, Nov. 8, 15; Dec. 6, 13, 20
- Session 3– Wednesdays at HSL Gym, 5:30pm-6:30pm, Nov. 8, 15; Dec. 6, 13, 20
2nd Grade Boys & Girls Basketball Skills Clinic

4th-8th Grade Boys Basketball Teachers Convention Camp
For boys in 4-8 grade. Dates are Thursday, November 9th and Friday, November 10th, 9am-2:30pm in the EMS Gym. Fee:$110 for both days, and $65 for one day. Camp is run by Coach Joe Ansaldi. Campers must bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks. More info on the registration form.
5th-8th Grade Boys Basketball Skill Building Shooting Clinic
Clinic is broken down to grades 5/6 and 7/8. The clinic is geared toward players who are serious about improving their basketball skills. Each player will participate in drills that will work on their ball handling, passing, and shooting. Particular attention will be paid to developing shooting technique and game-like shooting drills. Due to the emphasis placed on individual instruction each session is limited to 15 players. Clinic dates are November 2, 7 and 16; more info on registration flyer. Fee: $55.
3rd-8th Grade Basketball
Registration begins September 1st for in person at Roxbury Recreation or online through Community Pass. Registration deadline is November 3rd; evaluations for 5th-8th grade levels will be during the second half of October. Please note that there will be no special/carpooling requests accepted for the formation of teams. Our goal is to put balanced teams together, so no single team has an unfair advantage. Girls Travel Basketball Teams
Travel teams are offered for 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Girls Teams. Your child must be registered for Recreation Basketball in order to receive notification for travel tryouts. Sign up early; tryouts begin October 11th. There is an additional $50 fee for travel basketball. More info on flyer.
High School Boys Basketball
Practice and games are mid-day on Sundays for 9th-12th grade boys. Program start in mid-December. Registration begins September online through Community Pass, or in person at Roxbury Recreation or. More info on flyer. Fee: $95, includes t-shirt.
Jr. Gaels Wrestling
This program is for children in K-8th grade who want to learn to wrestle and compete with kids of same age and weight. Sign up in person at Roxbury Recreation or online through your Community Pass account. Program begins in mid-November. More info on flyer.
- 1st-4th Grade Novice: To be eligible, your child must have attended Clinic Program. Intermediate program introduces the young athlete to the beginner level of competition. Practices will be Wednesdays and Fridays, 6pm-7:30pm in the Roxbury High School Wresting Room. Fee: $75 (sweatshirt included).
- 2nd-8th Grade Jr. Gaels: Practices will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6pm-8pm in the Roxbury High School Wresting Room. These teams will compete in both the Tri-County League and North Jersey Leagues. Fee: $75 (sweatshirt included).

K-1st Grade Wrestling Clinic
This program is for children K-1st grade who want to learn to wrestle and compete with kids of same age and weight. Clinic focuses on fundamentals and basic techniques critical to beginners. Clinic will be held on Friday evenings, 5pm-6pm, on December 8, 15, and January 5, 12, & 19 at Roxbury High School Auxiliary Gym. Sign up in person at Roxbury Recreation or online through your Community Pass account. Fee: $40, t-shirt included.
Roxbury Softball Winter Training Academy
This clinic is offered to girls in grades K-8th. All girls interested in the game of softball are welcome to attend. Dates are November 11, 18, December 2, 9, and January 13, 20; times vary per grade level. The training will take place at Complete Player School, 27 Ironia Road in Flanders. Register online through your Community Pass account or in person at Roxbury Recreation. More info on flyer.Fee: $110.
WINTER 2017-18 PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES:
Girls Winter Lacrosse Clinics
Get in shape for the spring season and work on basic skills through drills and game play. Open to girls in grades 2nd – 8th. Girls will get to know teammates and will work with trained, experienced coaches in the Roxbury Girls Lacrosse Program. Limited equipment available to borrow. Two programs are offered at the Kozak Indoor Soccer, 6 Middlebury Blvd, Randolph:
- Program 1: Sundays, 1pm-2pm; January 7, 14, 21, 28 – Fee: $40 per player
- Program 2: Sundays, 1pm-2pm, February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11 – Fee: $60 per player
SPRING 2018 PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES:
rades 7/8, grades 5/6, and grades 2/3/4. Practices are 2-3 times a week at Roxbury High School’s Bryant Field (usually Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) with games once a week. Season runs April 1st through mid-June. We are looking for parents to be assistant coaches to our certified head coaches. Please register online or in-person at Roxbury Recreation. Registration deadline is December 15, 2017. For further information, please contact Debbie Shulkowski at 862-251-4233. Fee includes practice t-shirt and 12 game season in league (Jersey Girls Lacrosse Association). Fee: $85; two children, $135; family max, $190.
