Minutes of the Neighborhood Meeting (Ward 4) of the Township Council of the Township of Roxbury held at Horseshoe Lake, 72 Eyland Avenue, Succasunna, New Jersey

 

ROLL CALL:  (Present)  Councilwoman Kathy DeFillippo, Councilmen Gary Behrens, Fred Hall, Jim Rilee, Martin Schmidt and Mayor Tim Smith

 

ALSO PRESENT:  Christopher Raths, Township Manager; Rick Blood, Assistant Director of Public Works and Mary Jane Parr, Administrative Aide

 

Mayor Tim Smith read the Open Public Meeting Statement.  The Neighborhood Meeting convened at 7:10 PM.   Mayor Smith introduced each Council Member and also introduced the Township Manager, Assistant Director of Pubic Works and the Administrative Aide.

 

Mayor Smith addressed the Public about the possibility of turning a storage area in the building at 72 Eyland Avenue to a theater and had pictures on display of what the theater would look like when completed.

 

Mr. Raths spoke about his “to do list” and told the public that they could come to Town Hall, the Roxbury Public Library or access the Township web site to see the list and monitor how their tax dollars are being spent.

 

Mr. Raths also spoke about the delay on the Eyland Avenue paving project and how the paving should be done by May 2008.

 

Mr. Raths also stated that as of April 1, 2008 the Township will have a revised “complaint system” on line to help Residents inform the Township of any complaints or concerns they may have.

 

Councilwoman Kathy DeFillippo spoke about the Main Street Streetscaping kickoff fundraiser to be held on Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church at 99 Main Street, Succasunna.  Sue Anderson of the Main Street Streetscaping Committee handed out flyers to the Public about the event.

 

Mayor Smith announced that Roxbury High School Wind Symphony will be hosting the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra from Newark next Wednesday night, February 6, 2008 at 7:30 pm to raise funds for the Roxbury High School Wind Symphony to attend the 2008 National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Investors Savings Bank and the Roxbury Art Alliance are sponsoring the presentation and tickets for the show are $10.00.

 

Discussion ensued with the Public on various issues and Council members, Mr. Raths and Mr. Blood answered their concerns.

 

At 9:15 PM Mr. Rilee made a motion to adjourn the Neighborhood Meeting.  Mr. Schmidt seconded the motion.

 

All In Favor:  Yes

 

Motion Carried 6 to 0
